Succeed in Life: An Acronymic Summary

Over the last weeks I have offered a glimpse of the concepts explored in my book about Succeeding In Life. In case you missed any of the series I’ve put together this brief recap of the thoughts I have already shared.
I am passionate in my belief that the tools for a better life already exist in all our lives. All we need to do to become successful human beings is know where those tools lie, and how to use them to our benefit. The great reward that awaits us all doesn’t just make our own lives better - it makes the world better.
Here are the 13 letters that, when used correctly, provide us with everything we need to find not just success, but also happiness and joy.

Success

So many make the mistake of believing they cannot be happy until they are “successful”. What does “success” really mean? When a person’s definition of success is tied up with money and having more of it, then there will always be more money to be made. The same goes for accomplishments. It is surprising how many great things a person can accomplish and still feel they have not made a success of their lives. When you allow yourself the freedom to be happy with the person that you are right now instead of waiting for an undeterminable “success”, you are already successful.

Unceasing

When everything you do is done without thought of giving up, when you work tirelessly at that which you want to accomplish, you are “unceasing”. Hope, passion, love… all of these when applied unceasingly bring an element of optimism to everything you do. Putting everything you have into feeling that hope, passion and love guarantees that when you achieve what you set out to do, you will have done it to the best of your ability and better yet, you will be smiling when you are done.

Confidence

Confidence is being willing to do whatever it takes to accomplish a goal, especially when the obstacles to the goal are those obstacles within ourselves. A confident person never says, “I cannot do that.” A confident person says, “What do I need to do to get there?” Confidence focuses on the positive and sees the negative as something that can be overcome. In order to feel confident, you must first put it into action.

Courage

Courage is not dependent on success. It takes courage to get up when one has fallen, especially when feelings of failure pervade. Courageous people know that failure is essential to eventual success. If you talk to any person who is successful in their chosen field, they can tell you stories of failure. Courageous people do not allow fear to hold them back. It is not that they do not feel fear; it is that they do not allow fear to get in their way. When you confront your fears and move through them, your world gets bigger and so does the impact you have on it. Courage is essential for succeeding in life because without it, we would all be stalled.

Energy

There are two kinds of energy: negative and positive. When negative energy is allowed to flourish, anger, depression, frustration and bitterness overtake our thoughts and actions. Negative energy keeps a person trapped in darkness and there is nowhere to go when you cannot see where you are going. Positive energy is joyful and kind. It creates confidence and hope. Positive energy lights the path to success and satisfaction.

It is possible to come from a place filled with negative energy to a place that is filled with positive energy. To achieve this, it is necessary to raise your vibrational frequency. That is less mysterious than you might think.

Efficiency

Efficiency is tied up in the use of all your resources to accomplish a task. When you are doing things efficiently, nothing is wasted — not time, money, materials or energy. When you can complete a project without waste, you will have done it efficiently. Some people do not realize that relaxation plays a key role in raising efficiency. There are even corporations that offer “sleep time” to their employees because they recognize that a little time to recuperate makes for work that is more productive. Efficiency has a positive effect on the environment and everyone in it.

Desire

Without true desire, there are no dreams of which to take hold. Desire is synonymous with passion. When you are passionate about the work you do, you are much more likely to achieve your true desires. Desire serves a purpose and that purpose is to spur us on to do and be more than we ever really expected ourselves to be. Nothing great was ever accomplished without a passionate desire for the outcome.

Interest

Should you have an interest in the area not only you choose to pursue, but you should also take an interest in the people around you. Nobody is as well liked as the person who cares about others’ thoughts, ideas and experiences. Taking an interest in others draws more people to you. When you are interested in people, they are naturally more attracted to you. If you want to have friends and be influential, take an interest in those around you.

Need

Human beings have four principal needs.

The physical needs are wrapped up in the survival of the body. We require certain things to live and breathe.

Friends and family fill social needs. The impact of friends and family on our physical and emotional well-being has been thoroughly researched and documented. If a person lacks close social ties, they are likely to die lonely at a younger age.

Intellectual needs are met by learning and experience. Without intellectual growth, the human race would not survive. The same is true for individuals in the sense that without knowledge, life cannot be experienced to the fullest.

Spiritual needs include the development of confidence, courage, empathy and self-esteem. A connection to something outside of ourselves has a direct impact on how we interact with our world. A belief in a higher power connects us to the universe and allows cause, effect, and the law of attraction to do things for us that would not otherwise be possible.

Leadership

Characteristics of Good Leadership:

  • Listening Skills
  • Service Skills
  • Planning and Decision Making Skills
  • Inspirational Skills
  • Integrity
  • Risk Taking Abilities
  • Responsibility
  • Mentoring
  • Learning and Growing
  • Positive Attitudes
  • Idea

Ideas do not belong to individuals. Ideas are formed from thoughts and contrary to common belief, thoughts are not exclusive to ourselves. When we form an idea from our thought processes, there is a good chance someone else is entertaining the same idea. This is noticeable when you have an “original” idea but fail to implement it or discuss it with others, yet it is not long before someone else DOES use the idea. Was it ever truly your idea? Ideas belong to everyone. The only difference between them is in when and how they are implemented. Keep track of your ideas and if they are worth pursuing, pursue them!

Facility

The facility to imagine creates faith that what is now abstract or non-existent may one day exist. When people allow themselves to imagine, they are training themselves to accept new possibilities.

Once trained to accept new possibilities, we develop the facility to create tangible things from our imagination.

Once created, ideas must then be implemented. To develop imagination, one must think like a child. Developing something from the imagination is the creation. Implementation requires a person to take what they have created and apply it to the needs of the world around them. Each of these facilities can be exclusive to each other. For example, one can have the facility for imagination but never do anything with it. One can create without implementing. Implementing can be done by the creator, but it may also be passed on to those who have a natural facility for implementation.

All of these facilities can be developed in one person. All it takes is unceasing dedication with a true desire for the outcome.

Effort

All things are possible when it comes to self-improvement. Concerning the “impossible”, half of what is considered “impossible” is actually possible — this is because of perception. When you do something with true effort, you are not afraid to ask for help because the effort is put in for the result. Do not let obstacles keep you from achieving your goals. Real effort looks for ways to remove the obstacles or find a way around them.

Success in life depends on utilizing all that we have and all that we CAN have to make our lives a shining example of happiness and fruition. Apply the principles outlined here and described in more detail in further writing to achieve a success that goes beyond riches and glory. In my book, “Finally, You Have The Opportunity To Succeed in Life”, I will go into depth concerning these qualities and provide an explanation for their application.
